Saying Goodbye To My Friends and a Wild Duck Hunt

It took me a few months to find my groove after moving to Miami. I had friends and family visiting every other weekend, a wedding to plan, and grad school to finish. I loved Miami from the start, but it was not until January of this year that I found my footing.

January was the month that Olivia and Alden moved to Miami. Alden is a friend of Michael’s from college, and Olivia is Alden’s girlfriend. I had met Olivia once, months earlier, during a weekend trip to Texas.

Olivia and Alden moving to Miami was such a gift. They visited on weeknights for home-cooked meals and invited us to their home for delicious smash burgers and steaks. We explored Miami together, and they consistently pushed us out of our comfort zones by finding new restaurants and places to explore. They were even there as we planned our wedding and celebrated our big day.

Unfortunately, my friends moved back to Texas last weekend for work. I am very excited about all of the good things coming their way. I would be lying, however, if I said I wasn’t sad that they were gone.

“You will never be completely at home again, because part of your heart always will be elsewhere. That is the price you pay for the richness of loving and knowing people in more than one place.” -Miriam Adeney

very grateful that they both always had a camera with them to capture memories 🙂

Luckily, we will not be forgetting out friends any time soon. To ensure this, they hid tiny rainbow ducks all over our home.

I cannot wait to see you both next month!
