A Mid-July Update

Happy July, I hope that your month is going well! I got to see my parents and younger brother for Fourth of July which was really special. It was my brother’s first time visiting my new home in Miami. My sister-in-law also stopped by for a day to celebrate. It was so nice to have so much family around.

This “From The Heart” episode is a good reminder with the summer season upon us.

I have been a big podcast girl this month. I’ve spent quite a bit of time on public transportation and going for walks in the hot summer sun. Here is what has been playing in my headphones (when I am not listening to Taylor Swift of course).

I’ve listened to two of Maria Shriver’s old interviews this month and felt I got a lot from both of them! I highly recommend her interviews with Martha Beck and Hoda Kotb.

If you enjoy Maria Shriver’s podcast you should sign up for her weekly newsletter! It’s a good one.

I also just recently finished reading the book “Remarkably Bright Creatures” by Shelby Van Pelt. The perfect summertime book to read out under an umbrella. The ending wrapped up so nicely it left me with the silliest grin on my face. I also love the book sleeve so much. This book looks beautiful on display on my bookshelf.

I am so grateful that I have found so much time recently to roll out my yoga mat. My mind and body have been feeling so great and I am so grateful for this practice that I so often come back to. I have been listening to this playlist while I am on my mat and it flows perfectly with my practice! (Storm Boy is my favorite song on the playlist)

I have conquered a new baking feat this week and made my first loaf of cinnamon raisin sourdough bread. I think I am finally at a place where all of my loafs are coming out of the oven enjoyable to eat. I’ve had some funky loafs the past few months, but no more. Woohoo!

Three things that I am grateful for right now are:

  1. having a great sister-in-law who I really enjoy spending time with
  2. my little brother Jack
  3. going into this summer with less fears about the way that my body looks

I have a lot to look forward to for the second half of this month. I am making a visit to New York for my cousin’s wedding, a family trip, and my sister’s high school graduation party! I am looking forward to a jam-packed week of visits with my New York family. The last time I saw most of my family was at my wedding in April. We have so much to catch up on and the thought of it makes me smile!
